I promised to explain my dragons ages ago, and now I finally post about it. Back in high school, I had a whole personal worldbuilding project, and I tried to put my own twist on dragons.

Dragons are made by a bloodborne virus, which was produced by the death of an eldritch abomination that bled out on the planet millions of years ago. Living things that ingest the blood or anything contaminated by it are gradually transformed into dragons, becoming something closer to the dead abomination with every mutation if they don’t end up eating themselves first.

Dragons aren’t really considered that big of a deal unless they’re extremely mutated or are especially aggressive. Dragonslaying is basically glorified pest control.

There’s also a dragon cult dedicated to becoming big buff dragon people too, but they’ll come later.
