shacklefunk:

yknow what fuckin sucks. that da2+dai dont fuckin talk abt the lyrium shit that alistair brings up in dao

like according to him, templars dont even actually NEED lyrium to use their spell cancelling talents. and he goes to whole game using them without using lyrium, or presumably having EVER used lyrium, since he never became a full templar

and the chantry having a stranglehold on the lyrium trade ? and basically getting templars addicted to that shit so they cant leave, and then it eating their brains as they get older? that u can run into templars in dao who have brain damage bc of the lyrium ??????

i mean i think in dragon age period siding w the mages is the Right thing to do, but if youre trying to make the templars more sympathetic to amp up the conflict/incentivise the player to see them as a sympathetic faction (esp like they have to in dai) why would u NOT bring that shit up ????

bc as much as the templars are often just Garbage, they are mega manipulated by the chantry-a lot of them come from super poor families who couldn’t take care of them/were given to the chantry as infants, indoctrinated into that way of life, given addictive, harmful drugs, and then left to rot ??? with NO WAY OUT?

like the chantry is garbage but the templars themselves ?? also victims of that. like obviously some of them arent, but a lot of them never had a choice, never WILL have a choice-and if they try to get away they end up like samson, or often worse. like holy shit forget “purging the mages” the templars have a LOT of reasons to break away form the chantry beyond just extremist views on mage bullshit! but thats the only part of it that gets brought up, and if ur trying to make them seem sympathetic, thats not,,,the BEST way to do it,,,,,

like templars are totally sympathetic and need help but they totally dont get their due as also being victims of chantry bullshit in dai, for some fucking reason, bc i guess they just retconned a bunch of shit alistair said that was a big deal? idk idk im mad
