Why are people being Anti-Mulan (2020) when the movie or tailer ain’t even out yet and there’s not that much info about it??

The first thing that raised eyebrows was that a concept script including european white men coming to China to be the eyes of the audience for Mulan’s story, rather than it being from Mulan’s perspective. This script was thrown out thankfully, but that’s a thing.

Unfortunately the script we know they have moved forward on includes a new male character who is replacing Shang’s role and is described as hating everything about Ping and sees him as direct competition but then once he learns Ping has lady bits he’s like damn I still don’t respect Ping but Mulan is kind of hot. That’s not cute. Give us back our bisexual king who just wants Ping to be the best soldier he can be and actually come out of this war alive, and respected Mulan as a solider who still rose to/above his expectations despite everything else she was going through.

And there was the blackface issue on the set of Aladdin. Genuine cause for concern.

Please realize that Disney has not earned any benefit of the doubt. Being cautious and concerned is more than justified. Especially with a white director from a studio that does not have a great track record with this subject matter.

Why is DISNEY being anti-Mulan ???

Everyone wants this movie to be good. But Disney gives cause for concern at every turn tbh.

it wasnt blackface on aladdin it was brownface they literally painted a bunch of white people brown because they supposedly couldn’t find Asian actors (Asian meaning south asian in this context) in London.
