Really, the amazing thing is that these two characterisations are totally consistent with each other.
I mean, sure, when you’re playing as him, it’s 100% clear that he’s an emotionally fragile bumbler whose idea of legal strategy boils down to immediately taking the most foolish risk he can think of until one of them succeeds by sheer luck, and who has to resort to reading people’s minds with literal magic to make up for how oblivious he is.
But from the outside, without the benefit of insight into his internal monologue, what that looks like is facing off against a freakishly perceptive and thoroughly unpredictable madman with a million contingency plans, including counters for strategies you haven’t even thought of yet.
Saints aren’t always kind and generous off the bat. Sainte Foy is a fine example of a mischievous saint who enjoyed playing practical jokes on worshippers and demanded tribute before performing any kind of miracles. (Girl is lookin’ out for herself first)
