The Seaweed Roofs of Læsø Island

historical-nonfiction:

Once, Læsø Island off the coast of Denmark was home to a thriving salt industry. So successful was the industry that all the island’s trees were chopped down to feed the salt kilns. Then the salt industry collapsed, without wood for the kilns. With no trees left to break the wind, Læsø’s villages were buried in sandstorms. The air became full of sea salt. The salt inhibited the growth of any kind of plants, even grass. Læsø, however, had plenty of eelgrass and driftwood. So the people began using driftwood to build their houses and the eelgrass was used for the roof. This small island is the only known place where seaweed is used for roofing!

Serigraphy/screen printing project. Belongs to Mairi.

The serigraphies are DONE people ! @mariposa-nocturna, @svndvn and I finished doing our serigraphy workshop the las week-end and here is the result of mine :3 ❤ Visit their tumblr, they are amazing artists !  I need to cut them so one character fits in A4 format.

INFOS

Prices for serigraphy :

-One character costs 45 euros (you need to tell me which one you wants)

-The two characters combined cost 75 euros (you need to tell me if you want the two characters in the same picture or if you want me to send them separated)

Depending if the layers of the serigraphy are well-matched or not together (since it’s the first time I did serigraphy), the price can get lower (for example if the red layer is not well-adjusted to the other ones, instead of 45 euros a character in A4 format will cost around 30 to 25 euros depending on how the layers are shifting causing mistakes in the picture). We can discuss this through messages :3

And FINALLy, if anyone living in Paris or in the suburbs of Paris is interested in buying them, we can meet in the city directly so I can deliver instead of sending through the post office :3 Take care folks !

Drawing two different characters
Are they different enough? Are their designs visually distinct from one another? Will people be able to tell them apart? Do I just draw the same face over and over again like some kind of rank amateur?

Drawing the same character twice
…there’s no fucking way this is the same person
