Scars from breast cancer can be both hard to hide and embarrassing for some women. I wish they weren’t, because scars mean you’re a fighter and a bad ass.
Women have told me after their mastectomy they felt self conscious about someone seeing their chest. My grandmother wore her false breast (she had only one boob removed) around even the house for a long time. (Of course, now when we were taking about the procedure she asked “want to see my boob?” And had to go fetch it from the other room. It was an interesting conversation to say the least.)
Anyway, breast reconstruction can be expensive, and some women either don’t want it or can’t have it done for various reasons.
But you know what, chest tattoos are easily accessible. There are even tattoo shops that give discounts to women covering up breast cancer scars. And women who no longer have a nipple? You can get a bad ass tattoo
You can donate to the organization, or if you know a tattoo artist you can let them know they accept volunteers to be a part of their community of artists.
Here is another badass lady and her bad ass tattoo (found on pinterest)
I am sharing this again because @staff might decide this is “adult content”.
These are cancer survivors reclaiming their bodies.
Banning all “female presenting” nipples ignores a commuity of women who are total bad asses who said “fuck you” to their cancer scars and turned them into art.
Not every image of a female nipple should be sexualized. This is not porn, this is courage and strength.
Are the new regulations going to delete this post. Does a post supporting a cancer survivors violate Tumblr’s community guidelines?
If it does, maybe the guidelines are wrong, and not the post.
Hey @staff, per your guidelines this isn’t explicit content.
Yet this post was flagged. Maybe figure out an appeal process.
I asked for a review and they responded:
So women reclaiming their bodies after breast cancer is “sensitive content” and should be hidden from minors.
Tumblr has some messed up morals.
Fucked up how they don’t respect their own terms and conditions… And of course, how is THIS sensitive content? How do you decide that it is sensitive content? What are the conditions? the real ones? Does someone just looks at it, ignores all the message that is given in this post, ignores the fact that some context does exist in their terms and conditions that allows some nude content, and decides this is sensitive content? This is arbitrary. They arbitrary chose this was indecent because those are boobs and there’s three blurred nipples in three of those pics. They don’t give a shit about what this post was about, they saw the nipples as if they’ve seen Satan himself and it was enough to judge. Given that, a woman breastfeeding her child will be flagged and considered “sensitive content”, a trans person showing himself after a gender confirmation surgery (they never said they didn’t allowed male to female confirmation surgery but I bet they meant only the male presenting breasts are acceptable) will be considered “sensitive content” as well. Because they don’t give a fuck about the exceptions they made in that announcement, those guidelines are a bunch of lies.
This is wrong in many ways. Censoring “female presenting nipples” is way wrong in itself, but this is the epitome of absurdity.
For God’s sake. This post is very important and I’ll reblog the hell of it.
this is horrible, but it’s important to remember that there’s a LOT of mounting evidence suggesting that the “reviews” are just done by another bot. As far as I’m aware, there are NO humans involved anywhere in the flagging/reviewing process.
No one is censoring this content because they hate trans people, at least not specifically. It’s giving them far too much credit to treat this like an overzealous attempt to Protect The Children, or even a a targeted bigotry campaign. The truth is, Tumblr staff doesn’t CARE about us enough to hate us, *any* of us. They don’t think of us as people, we’re just a commodity to sell to advertisers.
The product (us) was declared undesirable by apple and others, and now they’re trying to take the least-effort approach to “fix” us. The problem isn’t that @staff hates queer and women users, it’s that they consider ALL users to be less than human, just data to be sold.
Attention fanfic writers: If you use Google Docs to write/store/back-up your fics, you might want to download anything you don’t already have backed up elsewhere. Google is apparently invading and deleting people’s personal drive content thanks to the FOSTA/SESTA bill that recently passed through Congress. Essentially, it criminalizes ANY platform where sexual content could be placed.
It may also be worth making sure you have offline back-ups of any and all fics you have posted here on Tumblr and on AO3, in case Yahoo get antsy (they’ve been cracking down on the porn bot tumblrs already) and OTW face a legal challenge to take down AO3. I’m hoping that’s not the case – but I was on LiveJournal during Strikethrough in 2007 and I remember the way that whole communities as well as individual LJ accounts were deleted and purged; it was instrumental in the founding of AO3 in the first place. That was a widespread purge of fanfic writers and communities, LGBT+ communities and writers and more, all due to legal threats that SixApart, the company that owned and hosted LiveJournal, received due to allegedly hosting paedophile content. After Strikethrough was over and LJ admitted they’d gone OTT, there were a number of communities and accounts that didn’t get reinstated. I’ve always been quite careful not to have my Tumblr flagged up as NSFW in part because of that. Given the number of Facebook accounts that get temporary or permanent suspensions thanks to malicious false reports, I have very little confidence that Tumblr’s staff won’t make mistakes.
I’m not sure what this means for collaborative fics; but Google Docs probably aren’t a safe platform for that anymore.
If this is news to anyone else, listen, whatever happens in the world of politics, backing up your stuff is always a good and necessary thing. Do it and do it often. Be wise. Nothing is certain. Nothing is stable. Even data decays. In a world of rapidly-decreasing hard copies, you must perform backups. It’s not paranoia, it’s prevention.
@tisfan@27dragons I know you both use it so I thought it would be a good idea to tag you but I’m not sure if anyone else does so, please, be safe and save everything you can wherever you can.
If they touch Ao3 I fucking hope there will be a revolution overseas to bring it back, killing of everyone who tried to get us off of our drug.
Creators should beware of google for more than just their privacy policies and any “decency” enforcement. Pay attention to the terms of service. They state:
“When you upload, submit, store, send or receive content to or through our Services, you give Google (and those we work with) a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works (such as those resulting from translations, adaptations or other changes we make so that your content works better with our Services), communicate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such content. The rights you grant in this license are for the limited purpose of operating, promoting, and improving our Services, and to develop new ones. This license continues even if you stop using our Services (for example, for a business listing you have added to Google Maps).” [emphasis mine]
I will never use google docs for any of my creative work.
omfg *gathers all my fics and safe guards them because i worked hard on them and don’t want no social justice corn chips deleting my blood sweat and tears*
Google’s TOS are exactly why I won’t use their services except my freakin’ email.
Um. Point of order: Can anyone show me a website that allows user-submitted content that *doesn’t* have that bog-standard piece of legal boilerplate in its TOS?
Yeah, the ToS is boilerplate with expansion for blanket coverage of Google’s services (e.g. the business listing on Google Maps example). It’s the same song and dance that’s had every time someone bothers to read a ToS and sounds the alarms. As for the content purge, it was real but the sources that I can find on it specifically refer to targeting sex workers sharing explicit video and photo content via Drive.
What the absolute fuck?? That’s where I write all my porn!
Keepalive is Aram Bartholl’s fake hollow boulder in the woods of Neuenkirchen, Germany. It conceals a thermoelectric generator that powers a router configured to serve documents related to wilderness survival. The router switches on if the rock is sufficiently warmed, say by a blazing campfire adjacent to it.
It’s based on Piratebox, a standalone Internet router project for file-sharing.
It’s not the only art/artificial boulder project, though: Ed Ruscha claims to have made an artificial boulder called “Rocky II” and hidden it somewhere in the Mojave, where it is visually indistinguishable from the surrounding rocks, making it all but impossible to find.
that magic rock in the Mojave is going to confuse the fuck out of our descendants one day.
probably not. it’s just a rock. most rocks go unregarded
most rocks aren’t wifi access points!
you need to regard a rock to find out if it is a wifi access point.
w hat the fuck. did the world’s most sadistic text adventure game writer make this rock
You are lost in a woodland clearing. There is a large boulder and a pile of firewood nearby. > check cell phone You open your cell phone to google wilderness survival tips, but you don’t have any service. > make campfire with firewood You could light a fire here, but you’d still be lost. > regard rock It’s a large rock. The underside of the rock appears slightly charred. > light campfire under rock Pretty soon you have a blazing campfire going underneath the boulder. > regard rock The strange boulder, now warmed, has begun to emit a faint mechanical hum. > check cell phone You open your cell phone. There is one wifi network available, named “KeepAlive.” > connect to rock wifi The wifi router opens a webpage full of documents on wilderness survival. > ????? Invalid command. > why Invalid command. > who hides secrets in a magic heat-activated rock Invalid command.
China is putting Uyghur Muslims into Concentration Camps
This is one of the greatest attrocities and oppression taking place in the world today yet still it is one of the least talked about issues. It’s estimated possibly over 2 million Uyghur Muslims have been put into these concentration camps which China calls “re-edcuation camps” and the goals is to wipe out and clean them from their cultural and religious identity. They have built dozens of these camps with fortified walls and barbed wire fences which they hide from the world media.
China sees Islam as an ‘ideological disease’. Many of the people put in these camps don’t make it out alive due to to the harsh living conditions inside. Many leave behind children who are then sent to government run orphanages and are brainwashed from a young age removing their cultural and religious identity.
Uyghur Muslims can be arrested and put in these camps for the smallest of reasons and every step they take is monitored by the authorities. Facial recognition cameras and high tech equipment has been deployed in East Turkestan turning it into a complete surveillance state. This isn’t fantasy or ‘fake news’. This is happening now in East Turkestan. Don’t let history repeat itself. Share and let the world know the truth.
crows have been documented holding ‘funerals’ for many years. however, researchers suggest that they may not be mourning; evidence indicates that crows may be examining the body & surrounding area for potential threats to the rest of the flock.
Solas:Once, in the Fade, I saw the memory of a man who lived alone on an island. Most of his tribe had fallen to beasts or disease. His wife had died in childbirth. He was the only one left. He could have struck out on his own to find a new land, new people. But he stayed. He spent every day catching fish in a little boat, every night drinking fermented fruit juice and watching the stars.
Varric: In that story of yours—the fisherman watching the stars, dying alone—you thought he gave up right?
Solas: Yes.
Varric: But he went on living. He lost everyone, but he still got up every morning. He made a life, even if it was alone.
Varric: That’s the world. Everything you build, it tears down. Everything you’ve got, it takes—and it’s gone forever.
Varric: The only choices you get are to lie down and die or keep going. He kept going. That’s as close to beating the world as anyone gets.
