Part of me wants to shift the entirety of Magical Fantasy Adventure Land into the normal world instead of splitting it into a separate realm.

i always find if you need a placeholder name for something, write it out and make up an acronym, adding and removing letters or vowels if need be.
for example:
“The House Where Clio Fell in Love With Him”
“The HouseWhereClioFellinLoveWithHim”
“THoWeCliFiLWH”
“ThrowecliFiLWH”
“ThrowecliffiLWH”
“ThrowecliffiLWH”
“Throwecliffe”
“Thrawecliffe”
hence ‘the house where Clio fell in love with him’ becomes ‘Thrawecliffe House’. what’s a ‘thraw’? i don’t know. is it on a cliff? maybe; that’s an author’s preogative.
suddenly the name of the house itself throws up new questions which an author in answering goes off down a rabbit hole of worldbuilding.

My favourite example of this is Dragon Age. The setting is called Thedas, which comes from calling it “the Dragon Age setting” in development! TheDragon Age Setting The DAS Thedas
When characters A and B are facing some danger and character A puts out an arm to protect character B
Good variations:
-Character B doesn’t realize the danger until character A puts out his or her arm -Character A isn’t the larger or stronger character but still takes responsibility for character B’s safety -Character A doesn’t stand a chance against the danger -Character A continues talking like there isn’t anything wrong while standing between character B and the threat -Character A doesn’t get along with character B and/or vice versa -The danger is comically minor -Character A has seemed helpless or bumbling but is now revealing inner depths and hidden strength
other good variations:
-character B is injured
-character A is injured but trying to be protective anyway
-character B gets annoyed when they realize what character A is doing
soooo they a) have a health network that b) diagnoses and addresses mental illness including chemical deficiencies and c) makes store bought brain chemicals accessible to people who need them, which d) allows people the ability to help manage their depression because their chemistry is no longer fucked up and actively working against them?
Yeah no wonder they’re happy. They are getting treatment and aren’t suffering because their lying brains are bullshitting them into anxiety and depression. sign me the fuck up.

every now and then i just cant help but marvel at the fact that the path and consequences for climate change have been laid bare, repeated and reinforced over and over and over, and we have all the tools at our disposal to curtail the worst effects and we know precisely how to do that and we just…. cant, so long as capitalism exists
like i know, on a logical level, why capitalism is fundamentally incapable of reacting to climate change with anything other than doubling down on profit, but on an emotional level i just cant get past that incredulity
like, really? really? we cant do shit about heavy industry, about fossil fuels, about industrial pollution?
except of course, that we can, and we do want to, but its a couple buses worth of people standing in our way
