If the Veil is the reason that the elves “quickened” and became mortal, how come the Elvhen like Abelas and Solas have not also become mortal? Aren’t they as cut off from the magic of the Fade as today’s elves?

Spoilers for Dragon Age – Abelas and Solas are immortal because they are Dreamer Mages and spent the past however many thousand years in uthenera. The Visual Dictionary talks about how Solas barely eats anything – in uthenera, you sleep and go to the Fade, and you don’t even need to eat, you take your food from the land of dreams. Elves sleeping in uthenera are literally not of this world. Their bodies might be in Thedas, but their minds are living in the Fade where time doesn’t exist.

This is sort of speculation, but I think it has to do with the spiritual makeup of elves – that elves are literally pure spirits/strong concepts/immortal feelings who eventually took on physical bodies (stole the earth from the dwarves). When an elf goes into uthenera, it’s like they reverse that process, abandoning those bodies in sleep and returning to the world of spirit where they were born (and truly belong).

Abelas and Solas are actually still immortal because they’re Dreamer Mages and can enter the Fade at will.  The Veil tears the elves apart from their true natures as spirits and traps them in a land that is slowly, inexorably killing them. It’s yet to be seen if being in Thedas is actually aging Solas and Abelas for the time that they are awake, or if taking their food from the Fade is keeping them immortal – it’s one of the questions I’m curious about.

However we see that this is not true for all dreamers – both in DAO and DA2 we find many, many elves that slept in Uthenera and still died.

Yes. Those are, iirc, mostly the bodies of Dalish elven elders who attempted to go into uthenera long after the Veil had been in place, correct? If you aren’t a Dreamer Mage, and you don’t understand the Fade, you’re going to have a hard time with that.  And we know from Feynriel that it’s also not enough to be a Dreamer – you have to know what you’re doing, too. Zathrian was found out to be lying about the source of his long life. The only ones we know who were successful in uthenera were Ancient Elves like Solas, Abelas and Felassan – ones who knew how to do it. We also know from DA:O that other dangers in the Fade could kill a wandering incorporeal dreamer, which could explain the bodies that started to decompose suddenly. Solas was able to navigate the Fade like his motherland, so that wasn’t a problem for him.

TO MOVE TO ARGENTINA SAY A MEMBER OF ZONA LA PLATA SENT YOU THIS INFO TO BECOME A REFUGEE

Heey, this is sweet, but you don’t need to become a refugee to live legally in Argentina if you’re Brazilian! It’s the easiest country to move to for Brazilians and the whole process to obtain a DNI (the Argentinian national identity) takes 90 days and you get a 2 year visa, which you can later turn into a permanent residency visa without much trouble. It’s very affordable, we don’t even need to translate the documents thanks to a bilateral agreement and you don’t have to prove you have a job lined up for you or anything. Unless Brazil leaves the Mercosur, there’s no need to go so far as to ask for refuge if you choose Argentina as your destination.

thank you so much for your addition! reblog this please

if you plan to do this, id suggest you do it as quickly as possible, because its been said bolsonaro wants to leave mercosur

Here’s what Donald Trump doesn’t want you to know: ACA open enrollment begins TODAY!

Spread the word and #GetCovered.

Also, the time to enroll has been CUT IN HALF. They tried to kill off the ACA, but could only manage to damage it.

*****You have until Dec. 15! Don’t delay!*****

healthcare.gov GO GO GO

Reminder: the deadline is December 15

I did this last year and inexplicably turned out to be eligible for Medicaid in WV, which I STILL have. Absolute and total lifechanger that’s letting me go to school instead of having to work full time.

Hey do y’all fucks remember two years ago when just before the election all these “don’t vote both parties are bad” or “vote independent!” Posts were going around and then Trump won and now two weeks before midterms there’s all these “don’t bother voting, revolution is the only way!” And “your vote isn’t gonna matter and is an ineffective way to protest” posts are going around? Yeah knock that shit right the fuck off, don’t fall for it and get your ass to the polls, we are not doing this again.

“Remember when people didn’t vote bc they said there was no difference between Hillary and Trump, and now there are child concentration camps(Zack Bornstein)

“I know voting can be a pain in the ass, so just pretend like, if you don’t vote, children will be ripped from the arms of a parent who crawled across a desert to give them a better life and put in cages.” (Laurie Kilmartin)

We now KNOW FOR A FACT that Russian writers were paid to study US politics and make posts on social media to influence the election. We know FOR A FACT this happened ON TUMBLR. There is every reason to believe that’s still happening:

State Dept. Was Granted $120 Million to Fight Russian Meddling. It Has Spent $0

Right now, if you want to continue to have a democracy, the only thing that matters is eliminating Republican majorities, everywhere. That means voting for Democrats. It truly doesn’t matter how you feel about the Democratic party. Right now, your choices are between Republican despots who are taking away citizens’ right to vote in every way they can manage– or Democrats, who still want you to have a say in your government. It’s up to you, this year. By 2020, if Republicans have their way, it may not be up to us anymore.

hey remember how the democratic candidate won but still isnt the president? and remember how that has happened at least two other times in US history including one infamous case where the supreme court inserted itself into the vote despite not having any constitutional power to do so?

yeah. vote for democratic candidates and stuff if you have the luxury of voting. if you don’t tho? don’t let a bunch off centrists make you feel bad for not participating in a system that is rigged against you.

If you CAN’T vote, we understand, it’s not your fault. You NEED to work, or you CAN’T get to the polls, or you’re not ALLOWED to vote. Nobody is blaming people who don’t have the ability to vote.

If you DON’T vote, because you don’t think it MATTERS, or you just don’t CARE. Then you absolutely SHOULD feel bad, because you’re a lazy asshole and you’re a big part of the reason our democracy is falling apart.

Don’t make excuses for indifference and apathy.

There’s an old saying: “If it’s not close, they can’t cheat.”

Hillary lost by margins the size of one small town in a handful of individual states, despite being the overwhelming winner of the popular vote. 40,000 people in 4 different states going to the polls and voting for her instead of staying home could have changed the world. Al Gore lost Florida by a margin smaller than your average municipal high school, which is how the Supreme Court got involved. On the other hand, Barack Obama, who the right wing arguably hated even more than Hillary, won easily and without controversy, two times… because people who don’t normally vote came out to vote for him.

A lot of people don’t vote because they feel like it doesn’t make a difference. But in a mid-term election there’s no such thing as a “safe state”. Polls are indicating that many places that normally have a lock on for the Republican candidate are competitive this year.

And don’t forget to vote for state and city level positions too! Maryland remains blue and keeps its priorities on helping poor people and kids despite a Republican governor, because we have a Democratic legislature, and we don’t have to worry about our elections being hacked. North Carolina has a Democratic governor who’s almost powerless to keep the Republican legislature from screwing the state over and attacking trans people. Plus, the more states go blue, the better our odds are at getting certain constitutional amendments through, such as “candidates for president must disclose their financials for the past 10 years”, or “Puerto Rico should be a state.” (Seriously, it should be a state. No one should ever be in a position where you’re ruled by a governing body that’s far away and you don’t have any ability to affect it democratically. The irony of America, of all places, putting someone else in that position is painful. Especially after what happened with Maria, PR should be a state. And if Puerto Rico was a state, with electoral votes, the Republicans would never again be able to win with an extremist racist candidate.)
